OUr Purpose

Why does Bethel exist?

We exist to be a Spirit-led, God-glorifying community of maturing disciples, going with Jesus in His ministry of reconciliation to the world.

Our Mission

What is Bethel called to do?

Glorify (God), Mature (Disciples), Go (to the World)

Our Core Values

  • Our core values represent the foundational beliefs and ideals that drive the ministry focus of Bethel Bible Fellowship Church.  They are based on our biblical convictions; they define and direct our life within the body of Christ and our mission to those outside the body.

Glorifying

  • We value the gospel of God’s sovereign grace whereby He has graciously chosen a people from among fallen mankind, redeemed them by the blood of Christ, and granted them the gifts of faith and repentance that they might freely love and serve Him and find in Him true satisfaction.

  • We value corporate, family, and individual worship that both magnifies the triune God and celebrates the salvation he has provided for his people. Our corporate worship is designed to glorify God in conformity with his Word. We value the faithful celebration of the ordinances (baptism and the Lord’s Supper), for the edification and encouragement of the Church to the glory of God’s Name.

  • We value individual and corporate prayer as a form of worship that approaches our sovereign, heavenly, relational God in: praise and adoration, confession, thanksgiving, supplication, and intercession. We see prayer as foundational and indispensable to the Christian life and service in God’s name. As a church, we are committed to encouraging and equipping God’s people to pray diligently and fervently, in faith, submitting in all things to the will of God.

Maturing

  • We value the expository proclamation of the entire Word of God, believing it to be the supreme and final authority of faith and conduct and the stimulus for transformation in individual lives.

  • We value the identification and training of leaders who will seek to serve in our body and in our community. We will identify and train Shepherd Elders who are God’s overseers and stewards of His flock. Shepherd Elders are called to feed the sheep the truth and guard them from what is false. Shepherd Elders will devote themselves to the ministry of the Word. We value the sacrificial care of the flock of God. We will identify and train Deacons who will care for the practical needs of the flock as they come up and assist the Elders with spiritual needs when called upon. Their service to the body frees the Shepherd Elders to fulfill their service to the body. both offices are necessary for the health of the body and are an assumed part of a healthy church.

  • We value the active individual and corporate pursuit of growing in the knowledge of, and likeness to, the person of Jesus Christ. We see this growth as coming b grace through the diligent exercise of spiritual disciplines and through intentional discipleship resulting in joyful obedience to the commands of Scripture.

  • We value the new covenant community established through the blood of Jesus Christ, a community that transcends ethnicity, culture, age, and socio-economic barriers. We value pursuing biblical unity, building strong and lasting relationships, exhorting and encouraging one another, and bearing one another’s burdens in our shared pursuit of holiness.

Going

  • We value investing our spiritual gifts, talents, and interests in fruitful and fulfilling service to the local body of believers, our community, to the Bible Fellowship Church denomination, and to the Church universal.

  • We value the proclamation of the gospel, with urgency, compassion, and reasoning to all people: our families, neighbors, every tribe, tongue, and nation.

Our Vision

  • We seek to be a God-glorifying, intimate community of disciples who seek to grow in our understanding and application of the Word of God. As maturing disciples of Jesus, we will provide hope by making disciples of our neighbors, the Lehigh Valley, and the nations. The hope we proclaim is found in the gospel of grace. We believe as the gospel of grace is taught, believed and lived, the people of God will be united. We will create maturing disciples by. . .

  • We envision a church where the Word of God is honored and exalted and authoritative. We envision a church where preaching and teaching ministries proclaim the whole counsel of God’s Word. We envision passionate, Spirit-enabled, Jesus-exalting, personally-encouraging, sinner-evangelizing preaching. We envision a church where redemption through Christ alone is faithfully preached, but where there is also a sincere appeal to individuals to obey God’s Word and persevere in their faith, as is their responsibility.

  • We envision a church whose worship exalts the triune God and celebrates the wonders of our salvation. We envision a church that corporately worships god in a worthy manner through the reading and faithful proclamation of God’s Word, praying fervently, presenting music centered on the truth of His Word, financial gifts, and celebrating the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We envision a church that has a growing appreciation for diverse expressions of love for God, using many musical styles and forms helpful to worship and which respond to God appropriately. We envision a church where worship is not contained to the sanctuary but affects every aspect of the believer’s life.

  • We envision a church where people of all ages and levels of spiritual maturity are taught God’s Word, loved, encouraged, and exhorted by shepherding elders, through one-on-one, small groups, and corporate discipleship for by this the whole body is built-up and by God’s grace, maturing in love, service, holiness, and Christ-likeness. We envision a church where membership is encouraged and expected.

  • We envision an intimate counter-cultural community where joy and acceptance, affirmation and encouragement, sacrificial love and giving, forbearance and grace, and confessing sins to another are the norm. We envision a church where individuals strive to resolve conflict biblically and to God’s glory. We envision a diverse, yet unified, body, where individuals, regardless of ethnicity, age, sex, or socio-economic background can find God-exalting fellowship. We envision a church where deepening relationships are sought, and where God-honoring marital and family relationship are pursued.

  • We envision a church, which helps its youth and adults discover and develop their spiritual gifts and guides them into a fearful and fulfilling place of ministry within and/or outside our local body. We envision a church where empowering leadership equips, supports, and entrusts individuals to pursue their role in the vital ministry in the body.

  • We envision a church where every member is trained in and committed to biblical, relational evangelism, where outreach is promoted from the pulpit, in our Sunday school, in our small groups, and carried out through periodic events. We envision a people burdened to reach the lost in our homes, community and world, and boldly bearing witness to Christ. We envision being a church that seeks to spread the gospel through planting churches or assisting existing churches that may be struggling. We envision reaching the Lehigh Valley and surrounding area. through growing neighborhood churches that transform the communities around them. We envision a church which recruits, equips, sends out and supports Priscilla and Aquila teams, missionaries, church planters, and pastors.
